  • Two Day Themed Workshops

    £170

    • 13th - 14th May 2026 'Pushing the Boundaries'

Put the ‘Wow’ factor into your Botanical Portraits.

Strong composition is essential to creating memorable works of art. This is particularly so in botanical art.  Good composition can lift a work from the mundane to the sublime.

      In this workshop we will:

      • look at what makes a good composition – elements and concepts
      • do some exercises to help you develop your own style
      • create a framework within which to compose your work
      • push you out of your comfort zone and get you thinking outside of the box

This workshop runs from 10.30 am-3.30pm with a buffet lunch (hopefully in the garden), teas, coffee and cake.

    • 28th - 29th July 2026 'Focus on Form'

      Highlighting Highlights and Shaping Shadows!

We see objects because of light. In order to create plants realistically we need to fully understand light and how it interacts with our subjects and we often find it difficult to perceive these changes of tonal values and separate them from changes in hue or colour.

In this workshop using a series of exercises and templates we will look at:

      • how light falls on our subjects
      • how to create shine, sheen and shade
      • how to work out accurate tonal values and create secondary highlights
      • how to create truly 3-dimensional plant portraits

On day 2 you will get a chance to put all this into practice on a more finished piece with full support from Ann.

This workshop runs from 10.30am – 3.30pm with a buffet lunch, teas and coffee
