- Devizes, is a medieval market town (market day Thursday) built around the site of an 11th Century Norman castle. This was destroyed at the end of the English Civil War as it was a Loyalist stronghold but the streets of the town still follow the medieval street plan. The Wiltshire Museum is in Long Street and well worth a visit and there are many cafes, hotels and restaurants in the town.
- Calne is also nearby with an interesting Heritage Quarter and the Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum.
