Coloured Pencil and Graphite
I love the delicate colours and papery skin of these big, fat, garlic bulbs. An ideal subject for my favourite technique of applying colour first and then melting it with a solvent which leaves the paper impregnated with a hint of the delicate colours and the surface unchanged so then all the lovely crinkly, details can be applied over this colour base using a selection of graphite pencils. A graphite drawing on a tinted background.
My originals are set in off white, deep-cut mounts.
