'Cygnets'
Several people have asked me recently who the ‘cygnets’ are and I realised that I blogged a few weeks ago about my trip to Geneva with the cygnets and most of you won’t know what I was talking about.
When I moved to Wiltshire over 7 years ago I had already been teaching from my studio in Teddington for many years and had a group of regular students. When I left many of these students were unable to continue coming to my workshops because of the distance. They wanted to stay in touch with each other so they formed a group calling themselves ‘the cygnets’. Several times a year they organise outings to exhibitions, gardens or places of interest to meet up and I am delighted that they often invite me to join them and when I can I do.
Most of them still do some ‘colouring in’, some to a very high standard but others have retired and hung up their pencil cases or are unable to work through ill health or changed circumstances. As a group they are amazingly supportive of each other and I think they are brilliant.
