  • Two Day Themed Workshops

(for intermediate students or students who have done the Beginners Two Day Workshop)

    • 22nd - 23rd November 2016 '‘Problem Solving’'

Colour not going on smoothly, shadows not effective, compositions not working – does any of that ring a bell? In this workshop we will be looking at what to do when things don’t go according to plan and techniques to help you get back on track.

    • 8th - 9th March 2017 '‘Grappling with Graphite’'

Good accurate drawing underpins all our work whether large or small.  With exercises to stretch you I will help you to see and record plant material accurately and lose your fear of foreshortening and perspective. We will work on your ability to lay down graphite smoothly and accurately interpret tonal values.

Plant material will include twisted stems and gnarled bark.

    • 4th - 5th April 2017 '‘Great Greens - Creating Believable Leaves’'

We all struggle with leaves but they can really enhance your picture if they look realistic. I will demonstrate various ways to depict convincing veins and help you create natural, true to life greens and together we will explore ways of illustrating a variety of textures such as velvety, furry, smooth and shiny.

    • 24th - 25th May 2017 '‘Bold and Brilliant Big Blooms’'

Oriental poppies, tall bearded irises, clematis and peonies – create vibrant images of these beautiful, large, early summer flowers.  I will give you guidance on accurate observation, how to create a striking composition and strong colour mixing to give your work the ‘wow’ factor.
